On the run up to Christmas Friends of Scholes Park have been working with community groups and local schools to make lanterns from willow and card. On 4th December we held our first ever Lantern Parade through Scholes Park onto Gatley Green. Despite cold and wet weather we still had a great time. We finished on Gatley Green with Christmas music, singing and gifts, food and drink (including much needed mulled wine!) from the Gatley Scouts festive stalls. A big thank you to St James who sheltered us from the wind and rain in their church for our lantern making before the parade, for Gatley Cars for lending us their speaker and for Stockport Hydro and Forever Manchester for funding our lantern making.
